We provide a continuum of basic needs supports like food and housing in a participant-centered approach so families can overcome obstacles and build lifelong stability, resiliency and healthy habits. The Strengthening Families impact area includes:
Temporary Housing for Families
Leveraging the support of 800 volunteers, Growing Home provides children and their families with up to three months of temporary housing and guides their move out of crisis.
Growing Home prevents family homelessness by stabilizing at-risk families with emergency rent, mortgage and utility assistance.
Affordable and Transformational Housing
Growing Home operates 18 affordable and 2 transformational housing units. Transformational housing residents participate for up to two years. Participants receive reduced rent and monthly case management support while attending school.
The volunteer-run food pantry serves more than 325 families monthly with a 3-day supply of fresh, healthy, kid-friendly foods that offer long-term benefits. In our unique client-choice model, families “shop” for items that they prefer. The food pantry also offer diapers and family hygiene items as available. Open Monday-Saturday 10:00 am – 12 Noon
Growing Home offers Collaborative Coaching for long-term family self-sufficiency and economic stability. Collaborative Coaching is an evidence-based case management system that supports families in setting goals to enhance their stability and creating paths to achieve those goals. Collaborative Coaching requires a minimum commitment of six months, and families must attend coaching sessions at least monthly.
