Adams County Housing Nonprofits Face Major Funding Cuts

In a troubling shift for housing stability, Adams County has drastically reduced its rental assistance funding for 2025. These cuts stem from a 2022 state law and depleted reserve funds that pushed more direct cash aid to residents—leaving fewer resources for long-standing support programs.

As a result, contracts through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program have been shortened and downsized, slashing the county's $4.5 million discretionary pool. Other Front Range counties like Boulder and Larimer have already made similar cuts or eliminated contracts altogether.

What This Means For Families

Local nonprofits—including Growing Home—stand to lose hundreds of thousands in funding. That puts vital rental assistance and community programs at risk, just as families face rising costs and tough choices between essentials like food and housing.

Key impacts:

  • TANF contracts now smaller and shorter
  • County discretionary funding pool significantly reduced
  • Regional trend of housing support cuts continues
