Parents as Teachers

Getting children ready to succeed in school

Parent as Teachers is a home-visitation program for children prenatal through age 5. Highly-trained and certified parent educators teach child development, giving parents tools for their children’s best social, emotional, physical and intellectual start. Growing Home operates the largest Parents as Teachers program in Colorado, and in 2018 this program received Blue Ribbon endorsement as one of the best PAT programs nationwide.

  • FREE developmental, vision, and hearing screenings.
  • FREE monthly activities for caregivers and children from prenatal up to 5 years of age.
  • FREE monthly socialization groups where you can get to know other caregivers in your area!
  • FREE home/virtual visits where we provide you with personalized developmental information for your child.
  • Support network, your Parent Educator can connect you with other services should your family need them like discount/low-cost medical and dental services, bill/utility assistance, food bank, holiday help, and more!
  • Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve positive parenting practices
  • Provide early detection of developmental delays and connection to services
  • Improve parent, child and family health and well-being
  • Prevent child abuse and neglect
  • Increase children’s school readiness and success
  • Improve family economic well-being
  • Strengthen community capacity and connectedness

Parents as Teachers Affiliate

To participate, you must:

  • Reside in Adams County (except Aurora).
  • Be pregnant or have a child younger than preschool age.
  • Be willing to have a Parent Educator visit your home twice a month.
  • Not currently enrolled in the HIPPY Program or the Nurse Family Partnership program.
